We’re leaving our bikes at home this year – and visiting Tanzania instead! Jody’s teaming up with Thomson Safaris for the culinary travel adventure of a lifetime. Highlights include visits to Arusha, the Eastern Serengeti Nature Refuge, the Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Highlands and the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. Along the way we’ll learn how to prepare a traditional Tanzanian meal in the bush from camp chefs, and Jody will be conducting a hands-on cooking class at Gibbs Farm (2013 and 2014 Conde Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Award winner), where we’ll be staying during our visit to the Ngorongoro Highlands and Crater.
With over 30 years of experience in Tanzania, Thomson Safaris, is committed to helping people “experience Africa ethically, comfortably and intimately.” Jody and I have known Rick Thomson and Judi Wineland-Thomson for over 15 years (our kids went to school together) and I can’t express how impressed we are with their personal devotion to environmental stewardship and to an eco-friendly business model centered on the belief that tourism should improve the lives of local Tanzanians as much as it enriches those of the visitors.
